At the November 7th Clifton Town Board meeting the township approved of Northfield WIFI's request to construct a 100 foot tower on the Townships land. The two things required to start tower construction are a Land Use Permit, granted by Pierce County along with a Building Permit, which is granted by Clifton Township.
The Building Permit will be approved at the next Clifton Meeting, so that shouldn't be a big deal. The most recent hurdle that Northfield WIFI encountered, is that according to Pierce County, anything over 35 feet requires a height variance. Height variances must be voted on by the Pierce County Zoning Administration at their next meeting which is held on 12/3/2018. Before Northfield WIFI can apply for a Land Use permit, the height variance must be voted on and approved.
Had Northfield WIFI known this prior to the November 7th Clifton meeting, they could have gotten the Pierce County Zoning Administration involved a lot sooner. Northfield WIFI is pushing the envelope to try and get this all accomplished before the Zoning Administrations meeting on 12/3, they are also running out of time when it comes to the weather. Northfield WIFI is doing everything they can right now to beat mother nature and get this tower up and running.
Northfield WIFI was recently approved to install equipment on the River Falls Water Tower. The water tower they will be installing equipment on is the tower located off of Gulf View Drive. They hope to have that tower completed the week of November 26th.
